Collagen Induction Therapies – Microneedling & RF Microneedling

At Lifestyle Acupuncture & Aesthetics we offer two forms of Collagen Induction Therapies  – Microneedling with the AcuMicro pen and RF (Radiofrequency Microneedling) with triLift, which can be performed as a standalone procedure, or combined with the triLift treatment.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a simple non-invasive treatment that treats a wide range of skin conditions like enlarged pores, acne scars, and even mild to moderate wrinkles. It uses several fine gauge needles to safely and effectively create tiny micro-injuries on the skin that increase collagen production and promotes increased cell regrowth, skin regeneration, and hair growth.

The process of microneedling triggers the body’s natural healing response, stimulating collagen production and promoting skin rejuvenation.

During the procedure, a topical numbing cream may be applied to the treatment area to minimize discomfort. The microneedling device is then passed over the skin, creating small punctures. The punctures are very shallow and do not cause any significant bleeding. The tiny punctures created by the needles stimulate the body’s natural healing response, prompting the production of new collagen and elastin fibers in the skin.

The procedure usually takes around 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. After the procedure, the skin may appear slightly red and swollen, but these side effects are typically mild and subside within a few days. Aftercare consists of staying out of the sun, not using any facial cleansers for 12 hours, and waiting 24 hours to apply makeup or skincare other than hyaluronic acid.

Microneedling therapy works by encouraging the skin’s collagen and elastin production via needle pricks, with consistent treatments generating smoother and firmer skin. Deep scars, facial scars, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin texture can be corrected with consistent treatment. With repeat treatments spaced 4 weeks apart, microneedling can address problems like uneven skin tone, dry skin, wrinkle formation, and other signs of facial aging. The full benefits of microneedling can take several weeks to months to be seen as the skin’s natural healing process continues.

RF (Radiofrequency) Microneedling

RF Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that combines traditional microneedling with radiofrequency energy to improve skin texture, tone, and overall appearance. The procedure uses a device with tiny needles that puncture the skin’s surface in a stamp-like technique and deliver heat energy to the deeper layers of the skin. This triggers the body’s natural healing process, stimulating collagen and elastin production to smooth and tighten the skin. RF Microneedling has a stronger skin tightening effect than regular Microneedling, and can also help reduce fat, especially under the chin and related to sagging jowls.

During the procedure, a topical numbing cream may be applied to the treatment area to reduce discomfort. The device is then applied to the skin, creating tiny punctures that allow the radiofrequency energy to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin. The RF energy delivered under the skin creates controlled damage to the skin, which helps to stimulate the body’s natural healing response, and increases collagen production, boosts tissue remodeling, and increases elastin to produce a more skin-tightening effect.

The procedure typically takes around 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. Patients may experience some redness, scabbing,  and swelling for a few days following the procedure, but these side effects are typically mild and resolve quickly. The full benefits of the treatment are usually seen within a few weeks to a few months after the procedure, as the body’s natural healing process continues to produce collagen and elastin, and improve skin texture and tone.

RF Microneedling is commonly used to treat a variety of skin concerns, including fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, sagging jowls, and uneven skin tone and texture.

Kayleigh has been, without a doubt, a godsend.  My primary care doctor recommended her to me after no else could help with mt symptoms. (I’m a 78-year-old male…) What were my symptoms/issues? Many- severe tinnitus (ringing in my ear) which worsened over a period of years, while I saw many “specialists”. The ENT doctors could do nothing for me. No cure, they said- you have to live with it. The noise was so loud that I couldn’t stand it at times- so debilitating and depressing; unable to function at all sometimes. On a scale of 1 to 10- a 10! On top of that problem, I was diagnosed with collapsed cervical disks in my neck, causing pain to radiate into neck, back, and shoulders. Again, doctors and physical therapists they referred me to were unable to help. I could not function well- always having to use ice packs to ease the pain. And some disc problems in my lower back- collapsed disc and ruptured disc caused pain.  I also was suffering from some sort of vertigo (probably form combination of my issues, more doctors thought, but couldn’t help me)  So, I started to see Kayleigh in February 2017. She was upfront with me, telling me that my issue were treatable, but it would take some time to start to see improvement. Fine, I said- if you can help, I’ll wait it out. After about 5-6 (acupuncture) appointments with her, something truly amazing happened! The constant noise in my ear lessened! I mean for the first time in a long while, the noise (sound an pitch) went down! It didn’t last too long, but I was hopeful- my wife and I were hopeful. Next appointment, I told Kayleigh- she was also happy, glad I waited for an improvement. Over the next few months, I saw great improvement- overall. My neck pain, vertigo and lower back pain are all remarkably better. I am outside doing yard work as I did years ago (and still enjoy) to my amazement. The tinnitus has gone down- it varies in sound and pitch, but sometimes I can’t hear it! Other times, it is down to a tolerable noise. Every morning (because I do toss and turn every night), the sound is a 10; but with a little heat on my neck for an hour or two, it goes down to a 4-6. Something I can live with. I want to thank you, Kayleigh, for all you have done.
