Dr. Kayleigh earned her Doctorate of Acupuncture from Pacific College of Health and Science (formerly Pacific College of Oriental Medicine) in San Diego, and her Master’s of Science in Acupuncture degree from Pacific College of Health and Science (formerly Pacific College of Oriental Medicine) in New York.
Her graduate studies included a concentration in the application of acupuncture for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Dr. Kay works extensively with patients in treating a wide array of musculoskeletal conditions causing acute and chronic pain. She integrates diagnostic measures to distinguish the precise cause of musculoskeletal pain, and utilizes a specific needling technique called Motor Point Therapy, also commonly called Dry Needling, which restores strength and function to the muscles, helping to prevent further weakness and imbalance.
Dr. Kay is licensed in the State of New Jersey to practice acupuncture, and is nationally certified as a Diplomate in Acupuncture from the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
Dr. Kay also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The College of New Jersey, and it was her early studies in psychology and biopsychology that initially sparked her interest to pursue a career in acupuncture. After working with both adolescent and adult addicts, as well as women with eating disorders, Dr. Kay has become a big advocate of the integration of acupuncture in treatment programs for psychological disorders. In her own clinical experience, she has seen the amazing effect that acupuncture has in treating emotional and mental health, and strives to promote this awareness. Dr. Kay’s experience as a counselor in residential and out-patient facilities for people suffering from addiction, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders has provided a great foundation for her clinical practice in acupuncture, and integrates well with Traditional Chinese Medicine, which emphasizes the connection of mind, body, and spirit.
Dr. Kay has trained extensively under Dr. Martha Lucas, L.Ac. in the Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture System, treatments for weight loss and fertility, and the Pulse Balancing System, for which she completed a year-long post-graduate internship. She incorporates this unique pulse taking technique to diagnose and effectively treat imbalances in both the pulse and body. The integration of the Pulse Balancing System enhances treatment for Cosmetic Acupuncture, weight loss, and fertility, and is an exceptional method to pinpoint and heal emotional distress. Dr. Kay has also trained with Shelly Goldstein, L.Ac. in Acu Facelift, Virginia Doran, L.Ac. in Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture, and Chrysso Neophytou-Tsimis, L.Ac. in Dr. Paul Adkin’s Facial Enhancement Acupuncture protocol. Dr. Kay has also trained with Peter Holmes in Aroma Acupoint Therapy, and completed a year long study in 5 Element Functional Medicine for the treatment of women’s health and fertility with Chris Axelrad, a leader in acupuncture reproductive care.
Dr. Kay opened Lifestyle Acupuncture of New Jersey in 2016, and moved the practice to Sparta, NJ in 2021. Having grown up in Sussex County, Dr. Kay has always wanted to bring her practice back to her home community. In 2022, Lifestyle Acupuncture of New Jersey transformed into Lifestyle Acupuncture & Aesthetics, to highlight the range of holistic skincare and anti-aging services that are offered. We are excited to serve our community, and offer premier holistic healthcare. While not in the office, Dr. Kay and her husband, Evan, are busy with their three young children, Scarlett, Austin, and Hudson, and three Staffordshire bull terriers, Maddie, Marcie, and Remy.
