Insurance and Fees

To discuss fees and insurance coverage, please call the office. We can call your insurance company to verify if you have Acupuncture benefits, as well as any diagnostic restrictions, exclusions, and/or limitations regarding your Acupuncture coverage. We provide out-of-network service to plans within:

• Aetna
• United Healthcare

Unfortunately, we are not taking new patients with BCBS at this time due to their partnership with a third party billing company, Zelis. We can provide a superbill that can be submitted for direct reimbursement if your plan has out of network acupuncture benefits.

For patients that do not have insurance coverage, we offer affordable Wellness plans that can be discussed during your consultation.

Update Regarding Medicare Coverage for Acupuncture:

Regular Medicare plans cover 12-20 visits for low back pain only. HOWEVER, currently Licensed Acupuncturists are not able to be independently credentialed with Medicare to bill directly. Therefore, to use Medicare benefits, you must see a Licensed Acupuncturist who works under a licensed Medicare provider, such as an MD or NP, which you may be able to find at a multidisciplinary facility. Unfortunately, Lifestyle Acupuncture and Aesthetics is unable to bill directly for Medicare plans, and cannot accept Medicare at this time. This is a nationwide issue affecting Licensed Acupuncturists, and changes to our ability to bill Medicare directly will have to be made through Congress. We are able to directly bill a couple Aetna Medicare Advantage PPO plans in NJ, which we can verify for you. Thank you for understanding, and we apologize for any confusion. Medicare seems to not understand this issue, and often tells patients that they have coverage and we can accept it, which is unfortunately not the case for our facility.
