Project Description

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine used for over 3000 years that aims to restore and maintain health and balance. It is recognized by the World Health Organization, and the National Institute of Health as a safe, holistic, and natural alternative to conventional drug therapy and surgery. Traditional Chinese Medicine also includes: Moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, herbal medicine, Qi-Gong, Tui-Na, and dietary therapy.

Acupuncture is performed by licensed, well-trained practitioners, and is based upon the understanding of the body as a connected web, tying together the physical and emotional. The integration of mind and body allows acupuncture to treat the root pattern of illness, as well as the various branches, or symptoms, that arise.

Acupuncture is a safe, effective and low-cost method of treatment for a wide variety of disorders. Very thin, sterilized, single-use needles are placed in specific points along the body to promote balance and restore the natural flow of our body’s vital energy, called Qi (pronounced “chee”).

Acupuncture is usually painless and can stimulate profound feelings of relaxation and well-being. The needles stimulate the body’s own natural healing system in response to imbalance and disease.

Kayleigh has been a great help to me over the last few months. Acupuncture helped me be able to attend my daughters wedding in May. I have a bad back which makes it almost impossible to ride long distances or even short ones sometimes. Without Kayleigh’s help the 6hr ride to VA would have not been possible.Thank you Kayleigh. Now we are working on other issues like blood pressure, etc who knew those little needles could do so much.
